Children can be easily influenced by what they see and hear on TV. Research shows that the more television children watch, the more likely they are to snack between meals and to want the foods advertised on commercials. Have you ever watched the commercials on a Saturday morning during cartoons? It is filled with ads for junk food such as sugared cereals, chips, and candy.

Alcohol Producers Make Pact to Limit TV Advertising
Published: 25.11.2010 13:39
Private television stations and alcohol producers signed an agreement on November 25 to voluntarily limit advertising of alcoholic beverages during times of day when a large share of TV audiences are children and young people.
Currently, the law prohibits alcohol commercials from airing before 21:00; however, studies show that there are still a large number of children watching TV after this time, reported ERR radio.
The agreement does not pledge zero advertising after 21:00, but it will ban advertising during commercial breaks of TV programs that begin before and overlap after 21:00.
Alcoholic Beverages Producers Association director Janek Kalvi said those shows are fairly common and they tend to be family programs.
The impact that advertisements cause depends on the state of mind of an individual and his past experiences. For instances, young kids will be easily attracted by the false claims made in advertisements. People are also arguing about the increase in consumption of substances like alcohol and cigarettes after viewing the ads. Excessive advertising has become a nuisance in most cities of the world. Manufacturers easily make false claims about any product and influence the minds of the people. To confront this problem, companies are being asked to withdraw any false and negative claims made in their ads and also being made to pay a fine for these false claims.
Another reason why we should limit the Television advertisement is because it can be an annoyance. Many people use commercial breaks to go to the bathroom, get a snack or flip channels.
Add to that all the other entertainment options they have such as video-on-demand, radio, the Internet, Mp3 players and video games--opportunities abound to miss the ad altogether.
